How to get there:
An ascending curvy road will bring you to Vršič pass (1611 m) either from Kranjska Gora or Trenta (Bovec).
Description:
From Vršič pass we will ascend to a summit with the same name just above the pass in a short walk. The path runs through a nice larch forest at first, and then a fantastic view on the walls of Mt. Prisojnik which is rising above us opens. Two mountain huts are on the way and offer simple local food and drniks.
If we park right at the top of the pass, then we have to descend a bit on the road towards Kranjska Gora. Turn right around 30 m before a tourist board for 'Ruska kapelica' (Russian chapel) onto a clearly visible dirt road, which later turns into a footpath. Soon we merge with the old road on Vršič, built by the Russian war prisioners, on which we continue to the right all the way to 'Poštarski Dom' hut. From here we rise up on a marked path to the panoramic summit - also called Vršič (the slope north-west above us). Summits on both sides of the pass are right in front of our noses. Lay on the grass and rest your soul and eyes! Return back to the hut and proceed the circular route on a wide dirt road, which takes us back to the parking lot past 'Tičarjev Dom' hut.
