Villa Bohinca offers a very high level of comfort and facilities for groups of up to 12 people in 5 bedrooms. Completely renovated and newly furnished in 2015 with top quality fittings and fixtures, the house comprises a raised ground floor with 3 bedrooms (one large double bedroom with balcony access, one twin bedroom and one bunk bedroom) and a spacious bathroom with large shower enclosure. On the second floor is a wonderfully spacious open plan kitchen, living room, dining room with panoramic views and balcony stretching the length of the room.
The living areas have been placed on this level to maximise the light and the breathtaking views which are hard to avoid. The wood burner which is the centrepiece of the sitting area ensures toasty Winter evenings and plenty of atmosphere. The second floor also offers a spacious bathroom with shower and a second living room / TV room, which works great as a kids playroom and also has a double sofabed for use as an extra bedroom with larger group sizes. In the loft are two lovely attic bedrooms, one double with a stunning private balcony and a twin room to the rear of the house. There is a further shower room on this level.
In the basement level is the heating room, a table tennis room and Summer kitchen. A terrace and BBQ in front of the house for al fresco Summer eating whilst drinking in the views completes the picture. All twin beds can be pushed together to make doubles. Beautiful solid oak floor boards, handmade doors, wifi and TV, toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher & washing machine are amongst the many features which create a uniquely appealing Bohinj rental holiday home.
Location and activities:
Situated in an elevated position on the edge of the one of the most picturesque villages in the Bohinj region, Villa Bohinca enjoys magnificent views down the Upper Bohinj Valley to the Lake, Vogel gondola station and the Julian Alps in the distance. The house is on a small quiet street at the top of the village and is a tranquil and beautiful holiday location. Jereka village itself is located where the Upper Bohinj Valley meets the Pokljuka Plateau in an excellent position for exploring the many attractions of the Bohinj region.
In one direction the Pokljuka offers stunning alpine pastures and forests, magnificent walking and biking routes and Slovenia’s best cross country skiing in Winter. In the other direction (4km) Bohinjska Bistrica town offers a wide range of amenities close at hand - various shops, bars, restaurants, bank, post office, service station and an excellent water parkwith ample pool and spa facilities. In the other direction the Upper Bohinj Valley leads directly to Lake Bohinj (8km) via a chain of charming villages, notably Srednja Vas where the closest (3km) restaurants are located.
Lake Bohinj itself is a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia. In Summer the Lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains of Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing.
The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best with good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 15-20 minutes drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking.
