Location and activities 

Escape to Bohinj House is proudly positioned in the heart of the village of Stara Fuzina next to the bridge over the Mostnica River. Paths lead directly from the house to various swimming points on Lake Bohinj (the house is 1.3km to the lake - 2 minutes by car or circa 15 minutes’ walk). Stara Fuzina, meaning “Old Forge", is one of the most attractive and popular villages in the Bohinj Valley, and one of the closest to the lake. It remains relatively low key and not overrun by tourists, with an authentic alpine-agricultural atmosphere. In the centre of the village, just 2 minutes’ walk from the house, are two supermarkets, a friendly local restaurant and a bar.

The village also offers other options for eating out, a kids’ playground, the Alpine Dairy Museum and Triglav National Park visitors centre. An easy(ish) walk along the Mostnica River takes you up the stunning Mostnica Gorge and onwards to the Mostnica Waterfall at the head of the beautiful Voje valley. There is an abundance of other walking trails from the village, and you can walk directly from the house to start the ascent of many of the most beautiful peaks in the Julian Alps including Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain.

The main attraction of the area is of course Lake Bohinj, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests, and considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia. In Summer, the Lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains around Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and the area is arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing in winter.

The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best, with a good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 5-10 minutes’ drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the Summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking. A 10 min drive from the house brings you to the town of Bohinjska Bistrica, which offers a modern water park with ample pool and spa facilities as well as a range of useful amenities including shops, bars, restaurants & bank. There is a wide range of other ski areas in Slovenia / Italy / Austria within day trip distance from the property. 20 minutes’ drive away from the house is world famous Lake Bled. A ski bus runs during the ski season on days that are suitable for skiing and the ski centre is open

Escape to Bohinj House has been thoughtfully and lovingly renovated to keep the soul of the original farmhouse building very much intact whilst offering a very high level of comfort and convenience with high quality fittings and furnishings as standard throughout the house.

Entering the house there is a generous entry space for coats and shoes leading to the large open plan living room / kitchen / dining room with a wood burner, plenty of comfy seating and a well equipped kitchen, all with tons of character. The ground floor level also offers a WC and utility room with access out to the garden space with lawn, BBQ and alfresco dining.

The first floor offers two bedrooms, both of a generous size and an equally generous and well appointed bathroom with large bath and walk in shower.

On the top level is the fantastic master bedroom offering ample space, beautiful restored old timbers, a pretty ensuite shower room and views over the village to the Julian Alps in the distance.
