The cottage lies on the Pokljuka plateau in the Triglav National Park. It is accessible by car year-round. It takes 25 minutes to reach it from Bled or Bohinj.
There are 7 beds available: one room with three beds, one double room and two additional beds in the living room. The kitchen has a wooden stove, a little gas stove, a fridge and a dining corner for 7 people. There is also a bathroom with a toilet and the whole place is heated on wood and electricity.
Pokljuka is a karst plateau in the Julian Alps and is part of the Triglav National Park. The uneven surface, covered with spruce trees, is full of hidden abysses, hollows and sinkholes, which are all remains of the Pokljuka glacier. The glacier left behind some very interesting marshes, too. One of them is the Goreljek marsh, located right next to the cottage, with an educational trail running through it. A great family trip!
The surrounding area offers many opportunities for different activities throughout the year. In winter you can go cross-country skiing (hint 1, hint 2, hint 3), hiking or enjoy watching the biathlon competitions. In summer you can take a walk around the forest, hike on nearby hills with excellent home-made food, visit Pokljuka Gorge or you can tackle a more demanding ascent on Debela peč, Viševnik or even Triglav. You will definitely wish your break could last a bit longer!
