It’s no surprise that Krvavec is one of the most popular ski resorts in Slovenia - it’s only half an hour drive from Ljubljana. Who doesn’t dream about the sunny slopes, the "snow beach", fresh air and fantastic views when the rest of the people are stuck in the fog of Ljubljana basin? The diverse terrain offers great skiing for beginners as well as excellent skiers. You can have fun in the snow park, take part in the nighttime sledding, enjoy the selection of restaurants and bars and explore of the beautiful backcountry skiing area on the north side of Krvavec. How to get there: Google Maps Leave 'Ljubljana - Kranj' motorway at Brnik airport exit. Follow the signposts for the airport and soon after you pass the airport, you reach a roundabout. Turn left towards Cerklje village. Simply follow the signposts for Krvavec ski resort, which lead you to the end of the road in a narrow valley. A cable car takes you from there to the ski slopes of Krvavec. The parking lot next to the cable car gets filled up very quickly, but a free bus runs to the parking lots lower in the valley.
Ski resort description: Krvavec is one of Slovenian ski resorts that offer the most amazing views. The ski slopes are located high above Ljubljana basin and close to the highest summits of Kamnik-Savinja Alps and in the distance you can even see the highest Slovenian peak - Triglav.
The slopes for beginners are next to the upper cable car station. A ski school and equipment rental are right there as well and so is the polygon for small children. The more advanced skiers can take the modern and fast chairlift to the top of Krvavec and relish the numerous more challenging slopes. The terrain is really diverse, but if you are looking for something more check out the snow park and improve your skills on the ski jumps and other objects for various tricks.
The ski pistes are very nicely maintained, artificial snow is provided in abundance and during weekends you can try nighttime sledding and airboarding.
The center of 'entertainment' on Krvavec is the lively area with several restaurants and a 'snow beach' called 'Plaža'. The young and the old come there to bask in the sunshine, have fun listening to the music, eat some good food and have a drink. A variety of social events take place there - testing new skis, concerts, parties and so on. To top it all off at the end of the season they organize a great event that includes jumping into water - Luza.
The cable car doesn’t stop running even during summer. A wonderful summer park operates on Krvavec in the warmer months, you can come for a walk, a longer hiking trip, or mountain biking.
